Snapdragon Sound promises high-quality wireless audio

Qualcomm announced Snapdragon Sound, which the company describes as a set of audio innovations and software that can work together to significantly improve sound quality when listening to music through headphones, headphones, and other wireless devices.

The goal is to deliver high-fidelity audio with wireless cable quality, said James Chapman, Qualcomm's vice president for Sound, Music and Wearables.

Snapdragon Sound uses the company's latest processors, Bluetooth audio chips, and codecs (like aptX Adaptive) to deliver high-fidelity music up to 24-bit 96kHz.

The concept of high-quality wireless audio is no stranger to Android as Sony has greatly enhanced this mission with its LDAC technology that can carry three times the amount of data that the SBC bluetooth codec can hold.

Qualcomm components are found in headphones from various companies. The Snapdragon Sound logo is featured on boxes of audio products and smartphones that support the Hi-Res audio series.

Existing hardware will not be updated to support this as the first Snapdragon Sound products are expected to be released in the coming months. Xiaomi and Audio-Technica announced as Snapdragon Sound's first two partners.

Qualcomm said that Snapdragon Sound not only makes it easy to play HD music, it also improves voice call quality, improves clarity, and reduces game latency.

Connection stability is a top priority as the company promises to reduce interruptions in even the busiest wireless signal environment.

Qualcomm said the Snapdragon Sound devices, optimized for interoperability in the company's testing facilities, have been tested for performance indicators including sound quality, responsiveness and robust connectivity.

The release of this new technology comes on the heels of recent news from Spotify that it is preparing to roll out a lossless streaming standard as an add-on to premium subscribers later this year.

Amazon Music also offers HD streaming options, such as Tidal, Qobuz, and other music services.

The sound depends a lot on the source of the sound. So when technology penetrates the product, one of the services is required to take full advantage of Snapdragon's voice.
