AMD's answer to Nvidia's DLSS this month

AMD announced the release of FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) on June 22.

FSR is a great sampling technology that improves the performance and picture quality of supported games.

The company has created an introduction to Computex 2021 that describes the job in detail. Although it is not clear how effective it is.

Premium sampling is the main difference between AMD's GPU and its Nvidia competitor.

DLSS is a version of NVIDIA technology that uses neural networks to reconstruct higher or lower resolution images in real time so that games can run at a more consistent frame rate without compromising image quality.

NVIDIA introduced DLSS on the RTX 20 Series in 2018 and has since improved its performance and support.

DLSS can now use over 50 games. Nvidia announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 and Rainbow Six Siege have received this feature.

AMD's answer to Nvidia:

When AMD announced the introduction of the RX 6000 GPU last year, it said it was investigating superior samples.

The company has yet to provide many technical details about this feature. But she said it is open source, and that dozens of studios and drives are supporting it this year.

FSR supports four levels of expansion. In AMD's own tests, I ran Godfall on the Radeon RX 6800 XT with epic graphics settings and ray tracing capabilities.

Performance Mode runs at 150 fps - a clear improvement over the original result of 49 fps.

The Balanced Quality and Outstanding Quality modes achieved results at 124 fps, 99 fps, and 78 fps, respectively.

Since FSR is open source, it can also play on NVIDIA GPUs (including 10 Series models that do not support DLSS).

AMD noted that with the GTX 1060, for example, Godfall quality mode performance increased 41% and the frame rate increased from 27fps to 38fps.

And AMD isn't showing much evidence of how FSR actually works. But it will be available in three weeks.
