Huawei unveils Huawei Watch 3 with Harmony system

Huawei launched the first HarmonyOS 2.0 smartwatches, the Huawei Watch 3 and Huawei Watch 3 Pro.

In theory, this is Huawei's third independent operating system for its smartwatches. The operating system first used Google's Android Wear (now Wear OS) and then launched the latest in its class LiteOS.

Despite the new operating system, the Huawei Watch 3 offers similar functions to previous Huawei wearables.

New features include a redesigned Home screen that now consists of a network of watchOS-like apps rather than a menu. Video calls are also supported by the Chinese company's MeeTime service.

The long battery life of the Huawei Watch 3 shows that its operating system is very different from the version of Hongmeng OS that Huawei is using on the new tablet.

And the design of the Huawei Watch 3 is not much different from the company's previous smartwatches.

The new watch has a 1.43-inch round OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits.

The screen extends from edge to edge, so this smartwatch does not have a rotating bezel. Or you can control it with a rotating crown similar to the Apple Watch.

This watch is available in two different versions, one of which is a sporty model with a rubber strap, a classic model with leather, and a high-end model with a metal strap.

To track activities, this watch is equipped with as many sensors as the previous model, including a heart rate monitor, a SpO2 sensor, and a sleep monitor.

But the new feature in this version is the temperature sensor, similar to the Fitbit Sense smartwatch released last year.

Huawei said: The sensor can continuously track your skin temperature throughout the day.

Features of the new Huawei watch:

The watch supports hundreds of different sports modes, from running, climbing, cycling and swimming.

eSIM support is back, which means the Huawei Watch 3 can also be used independently of the phone.

The watch supports direct voice calls and video calls through the MeeTime service.

However, it has not been confirmed whether the watch can be used with other video calling services such as WhatsApp.

Huawei said that after turning on 4G, you should have about three days of battery life. However, if 4G is disabled and the phone is used in long battery mode, it will be extended to 14 days.

Even in this power saving mode, Huawei says you should still be able to track your activities and exercises, and the watch face will keep the animation going.

In addition to the Huawei Watch 3, Huawei has also launched the Huawei Watch 3 Pro, which offers up to 5 days of battery life with 4G on and 21 days of battery life in long battery mode.

Other improvements include a higher-quality titanium case and more accurate GPS tracking.

Support for third-party apps remains a big question mark for Huawei's first Hongmeng system clock.

As always, Huawei has promised to work with developers to bring apps to its devices.

The company displayed a number of app logos, including the Emirates airline logo.

Huawei has not confirmed any pricing or details about the Huawei Watch 3 and Huawei Watch 3 Pro version. But she said it should be announced soon.
