WhatsApp is testing encrypted cloud backup

After starting the multi-device beta program for other beta testers, WhatsApp brought another important feature with it, the ability to encrypt backups.

An encrypted backup protects your chat history and media from unauthorized access.

When you use WhatsApp, your messages are end-to-end encrypted, which means that in transit, it's hard to tell what's inside.

However, if you store your backups in the cloud, government agencies can use a search command to give Google Drive or Apple iCloud cloud storage services access to the data.

But WABetaInfo previously reported that the platform is developing independent encryption technology for cloud backups. He said that the system will be activated by Android in the latest beta version.

The subscription should securely backup your chat history and media. The important caveat is that if you forget your password or lose your 64-bit recovery key, it will be locked permanently. The platform can't even help you.

When you are happy with it, all you have to do is join the beta test group or wait for everyone to use it.

Facebook's private service always tests a version of the software that runs on multiple devices, whether or not you have a shared phone, you can keep the end-to-end encryption.

If you are in the testing phase, please check your copy as social media posts indicate that closed cipher tests are being rolled out to more people.

For the first time, the update allows users of the platform to use the service on up to four non-mobile devices. There is no need to unlock a registered phone or connect to the Internet.

And this set of multiple devices cannot contain another cell phone. Each supported device is independently connected to the WhatsApp platform.

The company said it has developed a new technology to make sure it is available even on multiple devices. Messages are synchronized while maintaining end-to-end encryption.
