Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has battery protection

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are equipped with an updated version of Samsung's user interface based on the Android operating system.

The new user interface is called One UI 3.1.1. Although this is not a huge upgrade compared to the previous version 3.1 of One UI. But it does bring some important innovations.

Among the various small innovations, One UI 3.1.1 on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 includes a device care option that was previously reserved for Galaxy tablets.

The new function is called Battery Protection. You can find it in the Settings app by visiting Device maintenance and tapping on Battery.

As for its function, Battery Protection should protect your Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Galaxy Z Flip 3 battery for a long time by preventing the battery from being charged more than 85%.

A number of studies over the past few years have shown that charging lithium batteries to full capacity does not contribute to the battery's long-term life.

Charging to 100% puts more stress on the battery, which shortens battery life. Battery life is twice as long after a single charge.

Battery Protection sets an 85% charge limit to ensure that your foldable phone's battery does not reach its limits while charging.

Battery protection is new in Galaxy smartphones, but it's been used on Galaxy tablets for quite some time.

Samsung has now added it to its latest foldable phones. Although it is strange that it was not included in the latest One UI 3.1.1 update for the Galaxy S21 series.

It's not clear if the battery protection feature will still be unique to the company's tablets and foldable phones, or if the device maintenance feature will appear on standard smartphones.

Other smartphone manufacturers offer similar battery protection features. Although Samsung's feature never allows the device to charge more than 85% of the battery. The equivalent functionality from OnePlus and Apple temporarily limits the charging level to 80%.

Increases battery life to 100% before unplugging the phone to reduce the time it takes to fully charge the phone.

At 4,400mAh, the Galaxy Z Fold 3's battery is slightly smaller than that of the Galaxy Z Fold 2, but its stamina is much lower in our test.

The battery test included continuous access to the Internet over 5G with a screen brightness of 150 cd / m². The Galaxy Z Fold 3 lasted 7 hours and 52 minutes with its 60Hz screen, and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 lasted 10 hours and 10 minutes.
