Apple launched M1 Pro and M1 Max processors

Apple has officially announced the best-performing M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, two updated versions of the M1 processor that were launched last fall and are used in the latest MacBook Pro models.

The original M1 chip was announced a year ago and is Apple's first in-house laptop chip based on Arm's architecture.

At the time of publication, the M1 chip was used in the updated MacBook Air, the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini, as well as in the 20201 updates for the iMac and iPad Pro.

Despite the quality of the M1 chip. But it is a solution to replace Intel processors in large Apple devices. Over the past year, all high-end MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac computers (designed for developers, programmers, graphic designers, and other more demanding workloads) have used Intel processors.

The M1 Pro and M1 Max are the company's long-awaited answers to this problem, and while they both rely on the same 5nm manufacturing process, the company promises a huge leap in performance.

For the M1 Pro, the company promised to increase the CPU performance by 70% and double the graphics performance compared to the M1.

The basic architecture of the M1 Pro remains unchanged. But the company raises the bar significantly: its 10-core processor offers eight cores for performance and two for efficiency as well as a 16-core GPU with 2,048 execution units.

The new chip also supports more RAM, up to 32GB (although the memory is still built into the same chip) and the memory bandwidth is 200GB/s.

The M1 Pro processor contains a total of 33.7 billion transistors, almost twice as much as the M1 processor.

The company also released a more powerful M1 Max processor with the same 10-core processor setup with eight power cores and two efficiency cores. But the M1 Max doubles memory bandwidth, up to 400GB per second, RAM up to 64GB, the GPU has 32 cores, 4,096 executables, and the GPU performance is four times that of the M1.

With 57 billion transistors, the M1 Max is the largest chip Apple has made to date. The new chip also allows you to connect up to four external monitors to a single device.

In contrast, the M1 offers eight processor cores, four of which are for the most demanding tasks and four for high-efficiency cores to extend battery life.

Depending on the model, the M1 also offers a seven- or eight-core GPU. It allows 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM.

The company also promised that the CPU-per-watt performance of the new M1 Pro and M1 Max chipsets is 1.7 times better than that of the traditional M1.
