| Razer's futuristic Zephyr mask is on sale |
After months of modifications and beta testing, the Razer Zephyr Hefeng glasses are now available to the public.
You can buy it at Razer.com. The basic $99.99 kit includes a mask, carrying case, USB-C charging cable, anti-fog spray, and three sets of replaceable N95 filters that can be used for 9 days.
If you want to add more filters to your purchases, the $149.99 version includes all of the above plus 33 sets of filters used by the 99 Day Filter.
You can buy a set of 10 filters for $29.99 so you can use them for 30 days.
The Zephyr is a very different product from Razer and probably one of its most important to date.
The brand is known for its gaming accessories and computer components. But the Zephyr mask is supposed to keep people healthy.
The company said the Zephyr mask is not a medical device or personal protective equipment and has not been specifically tested to detect the coronavirus.
The company has not announced whether it is seeking further approval. It is now sold as an air purifier.
The company states that its N95 filter has a BFE bacterial filtration efficiency of 99%. He claims the mask can filter out 99% of air particles as small as 0.3 microns.
It should be noted that the company stated that it provides this level of protection for inhaled and exhaled air. To install the filter, simply remove the magnetic connector cap from the air valve and filter hole with the black part facing the mask.
Another filter is inserted under the transparent plastic window. Each set of N95 filters can be used for up to 72 hours before filters become invalid.
The company said that if you've been in a high-risk environment for an extended period of time, you should replace the filter as soon as possible.
Zephyr has patterns and features not normally seen in regular masks. It looks like a futuristic gas mask, lined with Chroma RGB on the edge of the air inlet and where the N95 filter is installed.
Razer has turned the mask into a real product
LED lights are mainly used for aesthetic reasons. But it is also advertised as an auxiliary function, working with a transparent window that covers the mouth. He can read lips and get more nonverbal cues than a mask can cover.
Zephyr has a fan near the filter to make it easier to breathe. With the button on the mask you can turn on the fan and switch between two speeds: 4200 and 6200 rpm.
There is a third air chamber at the back of the mouth. But it does not have a fan.
The company has promised to install amplifiers and subwoofers in Zephyr. However, this functionality did not reach the first generation of this product.
According to the company, removing this feature could make the mask lighter by adding a larger air valve. However, it cannot be ruled out that this function will appear in future versions of the mask.
The Zephyr can be fully controlled using built-in buttons. But it also supports Bluetooth connectivity and controls its RGB lights via the Zephyr app for Android and iOS.
The built-in battery can be used for up to 8 hours per charge. However, the principle is that you are not using RGB light and running the fan on the lowest setting.
