Sony announced that the Xperia Pro-I will cost $1800

In early 2021, Sony launched the Xperia Pro for $2,500. This is the company's mobile phone for video professionals. The Japanese company has now launched a second professional smartphone designed to appeal to photography enthusiasts. In the name of Xperia Pro-I.

The main feature of the Xperia Pro-I is the use of the 1 inch sensor of the RX100 VII camera. This sensor is much larger than the one found in most cell phones.

In contrast, the Pixel 6 Pro sensor has a pixel pitch of 1.2 μm. On the other hand, the main pixel size of the Xperia Pro-I sensor is 2.4μm, which makes it more efficient in low light.

It can also record 12-bit RAW files and 4K native video at 120 fps with eye-detection autofocus.

Speaking of autofocus, it has 315 points that cover 90% of the image. The phone also includes one of Sony's BIONZ X image processing processors.

This means that up to 20 fps can be recorded with both active AF and AE.

The sensor's quick readout speed also avoids the locking effect, which the company says helps the device stand out from other 1-inch sensor phones like the Mi 11 Ultra.

These phones also do not have phase detection autofocus like the Xperia Pro-I. The 1-inch sensor is equipped with a 24mm glass lens that can switch between f/2.0 and f/4.0 aperture.

The company chose an aspherical design to make the lens as small as possible. Around the main lens is a 16mm ultra-wide-angle lens and a 50mm telephoto lens.

Sony said that after consulting with photographers, they decided on this lens arrangement and told the company that they wanted a setup to match their main lens line.

Sony Xperia Pro-I is the camera first, then the mobile phone

Once you get past the camera, the Xperia Pro-I is basically the Xperia 1 III. Internally, the phone comes with a Snapdragon 888 processor that supports 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

You can add up to 1 TB of additional storage with a microSD card. There is a 4500 mAh battery.

Sony claims that you can use your phone for an entire day on a single charge. It also includes a 30W power adapter that can charge the phone to 50% in 30 minutes.

The Xperia Pro-I is also equipped with a 6.5-inch OLED display with a resolution of 3840 x 1644 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and an aspect ratio of 21: 9.

In terms of audio, the device has a 3.5mm headphone connection. It also includes Sony's LDAC and DSEE technologies.

Additionally, the company plans to sell the Xperia Pro-I for $1,800. From a business point of view, you actually get a flagship phone and the RX100 VII camera. This is less than the purchase price of these devices alone.
