| Tesla adds vehicle sync to the driver's account |
Tesla is preparing for a world where your driver account can track you across different vehicles, whether it's a personal electric car or a rental car.
The automaker has added a cloud profile section to the latest version of the software related to the option to enable vehicle synchronization to save a driver profile.
Earlier this year, Elon Musk said on Twitter that the company moved all information and settings to the cloud so that all vehicles in the company can automatically adapt to you.
The company released the latest update 2021.40. This release refers to a new feature called Cloud Profiles that allows users to enable vehicle synchronization of individual driver profiles.
Although the job is not ready yet. However, it helps to understand the Cloud Profile user interface and how it works.
In the list of configuration files, there is a new option under each configuration file called Activate Vehicle Sync. Enabling this option appears to allow Tesla to sync the selected driver profile with other vehicles in your company app.
Your seat settings can be tracked in different cars
If you own several Tesla cars or rent a Tesla. You can keep your profile settings as they are in your vehicle. If you change the setting, it will be automatically transferred to your other vehicle.
This is especially useful when renting a car from a company. You probably don't want to go through all the car listings and customize them to your liking. You may not even remember which setting to use for certain settings.
This may be important for some settings (eg stop mode). When you first get into the car, you can assume it will behave like your Tesla.
Depending on the software update, timing settings include screen brightness, auto high brightness, unit temperature, distance, stop mode, and autopilot options.
For tech-oriented automakers like Tesla. It makes sense to provide customers with an easy way to transfer settings to multiple cars.
