BMW introduces its XM Hybrid concept car

With the XM Hybrid Concept Car, BMW launched its first plug-in under the M Performance umbrella and gave us a new understanding of its all-electric future.

This powerful hybrid crossover is the successor to the original M1 model introduced in the late 1970s.

BMW presented the XM at the Art Basel show in Miami, where it was described as the most powerful M car in mass production.

Production at BMW's plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, is scheduled to begin at the end of 2022.

Like the original M1 model, XM aims to break the BMW model and this time offers the highest standards of performance in a semi-electric form.

XM combines a V8 engine with a high-powered electric motor to produce a maximum power of 750 horsepower (550 kW) and a higher torque of 737 lb-ft.

XM may not be an all-electric car, but the company is headed toward an electric future. Their vision for the future matches the sporting power that the brand was originally known for. But the fuel consumption is low.

XM largely shows the company's progress in its electrification plan. It's about digging into the past for a more advanced future, a strategy the company has already had success with with other cars.

XM has also shown the new direction of BMW's front design. The flagship is divided into two independent units, and from the front the XM has a very unique appearance.

Despite some modifications, the company's unique grille stands out again because each split grille has an elongated octagonal shape that gives it a modern feel.

Production of new BMW cars begins next year

Like many other automakers. BMW is now forced to think more deeply about how to prepare for the future. Refueling at gas stations is no longer the norm.

The company recently announced that its main factory in Munich will stop producing internal combustion engines by 2024. Although other factories continue to produce internal combustion engines.

As a plug-in hybrid, the XM is not completely separated from fossil fuels. The company did not provide any information about the electric range or the estimated fuel consumption of the car.

Other electric cars, such as the iX concept, won't be able to achieve the same level of performance as the XM.

XM is the company's step in the necessary direction to reduce the harmful environmental impact of internal combustion engines on the climate.
