NVIDIA Introduces RTX 2050 Graphics Processor for Laptops

Since the company released GeForce RTX 3050 and GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPUs for laptops earlier this year, NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 2050 GPUs don't look new anymore.

But it's clear that NVIDIA isn't ready to let go of its GeForce RTX 20-series GPUs.

According to Nvidia, the GeForce RTX 2050 GPU will be used in laptops from spring 2022.

Unlike other chipsets in the GeForce RTX 20 series, the GeForce RTX 2050 is based on the Ampere GA107 architecture, not the Turing architecture. Powers the GeForce RTX 3050 (and all other cards in the GeForce RTX 30 series) with power.

GeForce RTX 20 series cards could offer some of the same ray-tracing improvements at a lower cost.

The GeForce RTX 2050 GPU is equipped with the same 2048 CUDA cores and 4GB of GDDR6 memory as the GeForce RTX 3050 GPU.

Compared to the GeForce RTX 3050 128-bit, it offers a 64-bit memory bus, which may result in slightly lower performance.

GeForce MX570 is also based on the Ampere GA107 architecture. However, the company did not say how many cores the chip has. At the same time, the GeForce MX550 is based on the Turing architecture.

NVIDIA announces GeForce RTX 2050

While the company may release non-GeForce RTX 30 GPUs due to the ongoing shortage of chipsets, the move could also be a way to create common ground between the GeForce RTX 3050 and the GeForce RTX 1650.

The company may want a mid-range GPU with better performance than the GeForce RTX 1650, but it's still quite affordable compared to hardware like the GeForce RTX 3050.

In addition to the GeForce RTX 2050, NVIDIA has also released chipsets for the MX550 and MX570 laptops. But the company did not go into many details about its specifications.

The company stated that it has more CUDA cores and faster memory speeds, but there is no exact number to support it.

This all happened about two weeks after the company released a new GeForce RTX 2060 (originally released in 2019) which has been upgraded from the 12GB of video RAM to the 6GB of VRAM that comes with the standard model.
