Lenovo announces the new IdeaPad Gaming 3 series

Lenovo has some major updates to its 2022 IdeaPad Gaming 3 lineup, including two 12th-generation Intel models and two AMD Ryzen 6000 series models, each available in 15.6-inch and 16-inch sizes.

The 16-inch option for the processor of your choice has a 16:10 aspect ratio screen and resolution options up to 2560 x 1600 pixels, like the Legion 5 Pro.

While the IdeaPad Gaming 3 looks alike when it comes to processor options. But the specifications are a bit different internally.

Starting with Intel-based options called the IdeaPad Gaming 3i, each option supports an Intel Core i7-12700H processor, an NVIDIA RTX 3060 (105W total graphics power), or new Intel discrete graphics.

As for memory, this model supports up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 1TB of PCIe NVMe M.2 storage. Thunderbolt 4 is supported in all configurations except the RTX 3060.

You can get a 2560 x 1440 pixel screen of any size from the IdeaPad Gaming 3i, starting at 350 nits, and the 16-inch screen can have 500 nits.

For AMD-based devices, it can be configured with a Ryzen 7 6800H processor and an NVIDIA RTX 3050 Ti (85W total graphics power).

Graphics get less attention here. However, the memory mode is the same, although you can get up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM in this mode. And its USB-C port does not support Thunderbolt 4.

Moving on to the screen: 15.6-inch version supports up to FHD. The 16-inch model supports WQHD resolution, and the screen specifications are the same as above.

Despite these differences, the 15.6-inch IdeaPad Gaming 3 and IdeaPad Gaming 3i share the same dimensions.

The 15.6-inch model comes in gray or white, and the 16-inch model comes in gray.

The base model for the 15.6-inch option includes a three-cell 45Wh battery. Optionally, you can upgrade the battery to a four-cell 60W battery. The 16-inch model has a four-cell battery. 71 watt cells.

The 15.6-inch IdeaPad Gaming 3i starts at $989.99 and will be available in April. The 16-inch model is expected to start at $1489.99, with Lenovo slated to launch in June.

The 15.6-inch AMD-based model starts at $929 and is expected to launch in May. The 16-inch IdeaPad Gaming 3 will launch in June with prices starting at $139.99.
