Microsoft claims that the new Qualcomm processor is better than the Apple M3 processor

Microsoft plans to promote new Windows laptops expected to launch soon that will feature Qualcomm Snapdragon processors

According to an internal company document published by the technology website The Verge, Microsoft appears to be confident in the new Qualcomm processors, and is even planning to present a series of demos at upcoming events to show what these processors will become. Faster than the M3 processor in Apple MacBook Air computers for mission-critical processing, artificial intelligence, and application simulation.

The document states that Microsoft expects the next Windows PC to offer "faster application emulation" than Apple's Rosetta 2, and that the emulation software can make existing applications fully compatible with the new processor.

Qualcomm introduced its new Snapdragon X Elite processor last October It is based on the ARM architecture like Apple silicon processors, and the company claimed last year that the processor achieved 21% faster performance in the multi-core test compared to the M3 processor based on the results of the Geekbench 6 performance measurement platform.

It should be noted that Microsoft may have deliberately compared the Qualcomm processor to the M3 processor found in the MacBook Air, which does not contain a fan, while ignoring the comparison with the same processor in the MacBook Pro, which contains a fan. This allows for improved performance or more powerful processors like the M3 Pro and M3 Max.

Microsoft plans to launch Surface laptops equipped with Snapdragon X Elite processors, including the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6, in late May next year.
