Exclusive: Google Pixel 10 Base Model Camera Upgrade Leaked in Early Ads, Renders

Google’s Pixel lineup has long differentiated its Pro and non-Pro models with camera hardware, but a surprise leak suggests the upcoming Pixel 10 could blur that line. Newly surfaced marketing materials and renders hint at a significant camera upgrade for the standard Pixel 10, potentially marking a major shift in Google’s smartphone strategy.

Leaked Ad Reveals Triple-Camera System for Base Pixel 10

An alleged promotional image for the Pixel 10, shared by 9to5Google, shows the non-Pro model sporting a triple-camera array—a first for Google’s base flagship. Historically, only Pro Pixels have included telephoto or specialized sensors, while standard models stuck with dual setups. The leak suggests the Pixel 10 could feature a wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto lens, mirroring the Pixel 9 Pro’s capabilities.

Tech analyst Mark Williams amplified the buzz by posting the ad on X/Twitter, noting, “If this is real, Google’s finally giving the ‘regular’ Pixel what it deserves. The days of reserving telephoto for Pro models might be over.”

Renders Confirm Design Overhaul

Earlier this year, GSMGoTech published detailed renders of the Pixel 10, showcasing a flat-edge design and a redesigned camera visor. The latest leak aligns with those visuals, reinforcing rumors of a larger 6.3-inch display and slimmer bezels. Most striking, however, is the camera bump: the triple-lens layout matches the leaked ad, with a periscope-style telephoto sensor hinted at in one of the modules.

What’s Driving the Change?

Industry insiders speculate Google is aiming to compete more aggressively with Apple and Samsung, whose base iPhones and Galaxy S models already offer advanced camera systems. “Consumers increasingly expect premium features in ‘non-Pro’ devices,” says Linda Chen of TechTrends Analytics. “By elevating the standard Pixel 10, Google could undercut rivals on price while delivering Pro-tier specs.”

Rumored camera upgrades include a larger primary sensor, improved low-light processing, and AI-driven video stabilization. Google’s Tensor G5 chip, expected to power the Pixel 10 series, may also unlock new computational photography tools.

Pro Model Still in the Game

While the base Pixel 10’s upgrades are notable, leaks suggest the Pixel 10 Pro will push boundaries further with a quad-camera setup, including a macro sensor and enhanced 8K video recording. However, the gap between models may shrink if the standard Pixel 10 adopts hardware previously reserved for Pro devices.

Official Word Pending

Google has not commented on the leaks, but the company typically unveils new Pixels in October. With the Pixel 10 series rumored for an October 15 launch, fans won’t have long to wait for confirmation—or to see if the non-Pro model truly becomes the dark horse of 2025’s smartphone race.
