Leaked images of third-party clear cases for the rumored 6.3-inch iPhone 18 Pro and 6.9-inch iPhone 18 Pro Max show a design language that’s almost identical to the current iPhone 17 Pro lineup. That means the massive, dominating camera island “plateau” – which takes up the entire upper half of the back – is here to stay. But don’t let the familiar silhouette fool you. Same Look, Bigger Bite: What the Leaked Cases Really Tell Us
The case images, shared by reliable leaker Majin Bu, clearly show a cutout for Apple’s signature rectangular camera bump. At first glance, you’d be forgiven for mistaking these cases for iPhone 17 Pro accessories. However, recent whispers from the supply chain suggest that while the footprint of the camera module may be consistent, the bump itself is getting thicker.
Why? All signs point to Apple’s first-ever variable aperture main camera. Rumors indicate a 48MP sensor with a physically adjustable aperture, allowing users to switch between wide depth-of-field portraits and razor-sharp landscapes on the fly. This new mechanical assembly takes up more vertical space, meaning the iPhone 18 Pro’s camera bump will likely protrude further from the back – even if the case cutout looks the same.
