Amazon Finally Lists Nintendo Switch 2 Consoles After Sales Open for First-Party Games

After weeks of high-stakes negotiations, Amazon has resumed sales of the Nintendo Switch 2, ending a month-long standoff that left fans scrambling. The retail giant quietly relisted the console late Tuesday, coinciding with Nintendo’s global rollout of first-party game sales for its next-gen device.

The reversal follows a bitter dispute between Amazon and Nintendo. As Bloomberg first reported, Nintendo revoked Amazon’s right to sell the Switch 2 in June after the e-commerce platform violated agreed-upon pricing and promotion terms. The clash centered on Amazon’s unauthorized discounts on launch-day software bundles, which undercut Nintendo’s strict pricing structure.

Supply challenges loom despite the resolution. Industry analysts warn that production shortages could persist through 2026, citing Nintendo’s conservative component orders and overwhelming demand. "We’re seeing restocks evaporate in minutes," said retail analyst Mei Chen. "This isn’t just hype—it’s a structural bottleneck."

For now, eager buyers can finally purchase the console directly:

The listings arrived hours after Nintendo opened pre-orders for Mario Odyssey 2The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of the Wild, and other flagship titles. "Amazon’s return is a relief, but the real test is keeping shelves stocked," said gaming journalist Derek Jones. "Nintendo’s playing catch-up with demand since day one."

Update: As of publication, both Switch 2 models show "Limited Stock" warnings on Amazon.

Key Context:

  • Nintendo shipped 4.1 million Switch 2 units in Q1 2025, falling 22% short of targets.
  • The console remains sold out at Best Buy, GameStop, and Target in the U.S.
  • Third-party sellers on Amazon list the OLED model at $700+ amid scarcity.
