Exclusive: StarRupture Blends Brutal FPS Combat, Survival, and Factory Sim in a Gorgeous Alien Co-Op Nightmare

Get ready to bleed, build, and battle with friends on a planet that wants you dead.

The skies above planet Erebus V pulse with toxic auroras. Below, crystalline forests hum with predatory energy, and geothermal vents spew corrosive steam. This is the setting of StarRupture, an ambitious open-world co-op survival game launching on Steam Early Access this August. Developed by indie studio Ironclad Forge, it promises a vicious cocktail of first-person shooter intensity, deep survival mechanics, and surprisingly intricate factory automation—all wrapped in a hostile alien ecosystem that reacts dynamically to your presence.

Survival of the Smartest (and Best-Armed)

StarRupture drops you and up to three players onto Erebus V, a planet shattered by a cataclysmic stellar event. Your goal? Scavenge resources, build a base, and uncover the mystery behind the "StarRupture" phenomenon. But Erebus V isn’t just a backdrop—it’s an ever-shifting adversary. Days bring radiation storms; nights unleash swarms of bio-luminescent predators. Players must manage hunger, hydration, and sanity while navigating terrain that evolves based on their actions. Chop down too many trees? Soil erosion floods your camp. Mine irresponsibly? Subterranean horrors emerge.

Combat leans into hardcore FPS traditions: weapons jam, ammo is scarce, and enemies—from skittering "Silicate Spiders" to towering "Tectonic Behemoths"—require tactical coordination. "We wanted combat to feel desperate," says lead designer Marcus Thorne. "A headshot might save your friend, but the noise could draw a pack of acid-spitters. Every bullet has consequences."

From Scrap Heaps to Assembly Lines

Where StarRupture surprises is its factory sim layer. Salvaged tech lets players construct automated refineries, conveyor belts, and power grids. One player might defend the base while another optimizes ore processing to craft ammo mid-siege. Thorne describes it as "Satisfactory meets Left 4 Dead on an alien trip." The factory isn’t just convenience—it’s essential for progression. To unlock new zones, players must produce energy cores, each requiring complex supply chains vulnerable to environmental disasters or raids.

Co-Op That Demands Synergy

Solo play is possible but brutally punishing. Co-op shines through specialized roles: Engineers build turrets and repair generators, Scouts tag threats and gather intel using drones, and Soldiers wield heavy artillery. Shared base-building creates emergent drama—picture frantically rewiring defenses during a sandstorm as your friend screams about incoming droids. Progression is persistent, with bases carrying over between sessions.

Early Access Roadmap

Launching in Early Access allows Ironclad Forge to refine StarRupture with community feedback. The initial build includes three biomes, 20+ creatures, and a tiered tech tree. Future updates will add aerial enemies, vehicular combat, and story-driven events. As revealed in their recent interview with God is a Geek, the team plans a 12-month roadmap before full release.

Wishlist Now—Survive in August

StarRupture targets an August 15, 2025, Early Access launch. If you crave a survival game that blends gun-toting chaos with cerebral logistics, wishlist it now on Steam. Just remember: On Erebus V, the planet doesn’t hate you. It’s just very good at killing.
