A UK-based startup, Movetru, believes the future of injury prevention lies not just in recovery, but in prediction – and they've just secured $1.9 million USD (equivalent to €1.4 million) in pre-seed funding to prove it.

The round, announced this week, was spearheaded by early-stage specialist VC firm Forward Partners, with strong participation from strategic angel investors deeply embedded in the sports tech and wearable technology sectors. This significant vote of confidence underscores the growing demand for proactive health solutions in fitness and athletics.

Movetru is developing discreet, AI-powered wearable sensors designed to continuously monitor an individual's biomechanics – how they move. Think subtle patches or integrated clothing, not bulky wristbands. The magic happens in their proprietary AI engine. By analyzing movement patterns in real-time during activities like running, jumping, or lifting, Movetru aims to detect subtle deviations that signal an elevated risk of specific injuries, like ACL tears, hamstring strains, or rotator cuff issues, long before pain or major damage occurs.

"This isn't about tracking steps or heart rate," explains Dr. Anya Sharma, Movetru's co-founder and a former sports physiotherapist.
