In a move that’s sure to catch the attention of electric vehicle shoppers, Tesla has revived one of its most popular promotions: 0% annual percentage rate (APR) financing for the Model Y. The deal, which had disappeared for a while, is now available for the recently launched Model Y Standard Range RWD—the brand’s most affordable SUV option in the U.S.
For qualified buyers, the numbers are compelling. Tesla is advertising the Standard Range Model Y starting at $529 per month for a 72-month term, with a $3,300 down payment. This marks the first significant incentive offered on the base trim since it quietly hit the configurator in October.
But Tesla didn’t stop there. The company has also slashed financing rates for the more popular Model Y Long Range and Performance versions by a full percentage point, bringing the APR down to as low as 2.99% for those premium trims.
A Strategic Play for Quarterly Sales
The timing of this aggressive financing offer is no accident. The promotion lands in the final weeks of the quarter—a period where Tesla’s U.S. sales won’t benefit from the $7,500 federal EV tax credit. That incentive officially expired for many Tesla models at the end of September, removing a major purchase motivator for potential buyers.
“This is the heavy artillery in Tesla’s deal arsenal,” said one industry analyst familiar with the company’s tactics. “0% APR has proven incredibly effective every time Tesla has rolled it out to stimulate demand. Coupled with the recent introduction of the cheaper Standard Range model, it’s a clear one-two punch aimed at closing the year strong.”
Indeed, the Standard Range Model Y was initially launched alongside the tri-motor Model Y Performance specifically to counter the expiration of the tax credit. Now, with the addition of zero-interest financing, Tesla is doubling down on making the entry point as accessible as possible.
Is the Standard Range Model Y a Good Deal?
Shoppers should note that the Model Y Standard Range RWD is a simplified version of the SUV. Compared to the Long Range trim, it lacks over 20 features and specifications, including all-wheel drive, a lower range estimate, and a slower acceleration time. Yet, its starting price is only about $5,000 less than the significantly more capable Long Range version.
This was a gamble Tesla tried with the rear-wheel-drive Cybertruck earlier this year, a trim that saw lukewarm interest and was quickly deprecated. The success of the Model Y Standard trim may hinge on this financing offer.

With the new rates, the monthly payment gap has widened significantly. The combination of a lower purchase price and 0% APR for the Standard model creates a much more substantial cost difference compared to a premium trim at 2.99%. This financial spread could be the deciding factor for budget-conscious buyers this holiday season.
Other Incentives Remain in Place
Alongside the financing deals, Tesla continues to offer free upgrades on interior colors or exterior wheels for purchasers who select a vehicle from existing inventory. These inventory discounts are a constant tool for Tesla to manage supply without officially lowering Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices (MSRPs).
The Bottom Line for EV Shoppers
For anyone considering a Tesla Model Y before the end of the year, now appears to be the moment. The return of 0% APR financing on the base model, reduced rates on higher trims, and ongoing inventory discounts present a rare confluence of incentives.
Whether this will be enough to “move the needle” and prop up Q4 sales in the absence of the federal tax credit remains to be seen. But for the consumer, it translates to the most attractive financing deal on a Tesla Model Y in months.
