In a move set to redefine comfort and efficiency for larger living spaces, Xiaomi has just launched two powerful new additions to its smart home lineup in China: the Mi Home Air Conditioner (Super Energy Saving) series. These floor-standing (or vertical) units, now open for pre-order, combine rapid climate control with groundbreaking AI-driven energy savings, marking a significant step beyond the company's popular wall-mounted models.

Designed for Power and Performance

Catering to different room sizes, the new series comes in two power variants: a 2HP model and a more robust 3HP model. Both are engineered for speed, promising to begin heating a space in approximately 60 seconds and achieving even quicker cooling in as little as 30 seconds. With a wide 115° airflow angle, they ensure even and efficient air distribution throughout the room.

The difference in power is reflected in their airflow rates:

  • 2HP Model: Airflow rate of 1,520 m³/h (~895 ft³/min).
  • 3HP Model: A higher airflow rate of 1,755 m³/h (~1,033 ft³/min).

The "Super Energy Saving" Promise: More Than a Tagline

The standout feature of this launch is its promised efficiency. Xiaomi claims its proprietary AI algorithm enables these units to achieve an energy saving rate of over 30%. This is backed by impressive Annual Performance Factor (APF) ratings—4.90 for the 2HP model and 4.86 for the 3HP model—which have earned both units China's coveted Level 1 energy efficiency certification.

A Seamless Smart Home Experience

True to Xiaomi's ecosystem philosophy, these are deeply connected devices. Users can control them remotely via the Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app, adjusting settings, scheduling operations, and receiving maintenance reminders. The app also facilitates Over-the-Air (OTA) updates and remote diagnostics.

Crucially, with support for HyperConnect, the air conditioners can interact seamlessly with other devices in the Xiaomi smart home ecosystem, allowing for automated scenes—like turning on automatically when a smart thermometer detects rising room temperatures.

For consumers in other regions, Xiaomi has been expanding its climate control offerings. For instance, a model like the Mijia Air Conditioner Pro Eco 3.5 kW wall-unit is already available in select European markets, such as Spain where it's currently listed at €699.

Sleek Design, Competitive Pricing

Housed in a minimalist plain white casing (measuring 346 x 1,868 x 434 mm), the indoor unit is designed to blend discreetly into modern home decor.

The new floor-standing models are positioned at a premium compared to basic wall units, reflecting their power and advanced features:

  • Mi Home AC (Super Energy Saving) 2HP: CNY 4,599 (approximately $650).
  • Mi Home AC (Super Energy Saving) 3HP: CNY 5,299 (approximately $750).

Interested customers in China can find more details and pre-order options on Xiaomi's Youpin platform. Further technical insights and first looks have been covered by tech media like ITHome.

Global Release Still Unclear

While the launch is currently exclusive to China, it raises the question of global availability. Xiaomi has not announced any plans or timelines for releasing these specific floor-standing models in markets like Europe or North America. However, given the company's ongoing international expansion of its smart home products, it remains a possibility for the future, potentially offering a powerful new option for consumers looking to integrate full-room climate control into their connected homes.
