| LG is bringing back its Wallpaper TV with a new wireless box and a brighter OLED panel. |
LAS VEGAS – Remember the TV that looked like a piece of art you could hang on your wall? After a nine-year hiatus, LG’s most audacious television concept has made a dramatic comeback. Unveiled here at CES 2026, the new LG OLED evo W6—the “W” stands for wallpaper—revives the legacy of the ultra-thin TV that first turned heads in 2017, but this time, it’s cutting the cord for good.
LG is billing the 2026 Wallpaper TV as its thinnest wireless OLED yet, though it invites a fun piece of trivia: at 9mm thick, it’s actually not as razor-thin as its 2.57mm predecessor. But that’s where the comparisons end. The original was an engineering feat tethered to a bulky soundbar that housed all its brains and ports. The new model achieves a cleaner, more futuristic vision.
The Magic Trick: A Truly Wireless Panel
The secret is the Zero Connect Box. This separate hub houses all the inputs—HDMI, USB, power—and wirelessly beams stunning 4K video and audio to the panel from up to 10 meters away. Imagine mounting the breathtakingly slim screen flush to your wall with literally a single power cable to the hidden box. The clutter-free dream is finally here.
But this isn’t just about aesthetics. As LG officially announced in their global unveiling, this is a showcase of their latest display prowess. The W6 features an OLED panel with new "Hyper Radiant Color Technology," which LG claims makes it 3.9 times brighter than conventional OLEDs. While exact nits figures are under wraps, the promise of a major brightness leap for OLED is significant.
It also boasts the lowest reflectivity of any LG TV, earning the sole OLED distinction of a Reflection Free Premium certification from Intertek—a boon for bright living rooms.
Powered for Performance and Beauty
Underneath its elegant frame, the Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen3 drives the experience, supporting 4K resolution at a silky 165Hz refresh rate. Gamers are covered, too, with both Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium built-in.
When you’re not watching content, the latest webOS turns the screen into a dynamic canvas. The enhanced LG Gallery+ service offers over 4,500 artworks and images for a rotating display, making good on the “wallpaper” name. AI-powered content discovery and voice-based profile switching round out the smart features.
Pricing: The Hopeful Shift
The return of the W-series is a bold statement from LG’s display division. The pricing of the 2017 launch, however, was a barrier for most, starting at $7,999. The good news? LG appears to be targeting a more accessible tier this generation. While the company hasn’t released exact numbers or availability, it confirmed to Tom’s Guide that the W6 “won’t be far off from its other premium OLED TVs,” suggesting a price closer to its flagship G4 series rather than a niche luxury product.
The LG OLED evo W6 Wallpaper TV is on display at the LG Electronics booth (#15004, Las Vegas Convention Center) from January 6-9, inviting attendees to see if the future of TV is, indeed, a beautiful blur between screen and wall.
