| The Lumstrik LED flashlight can modified depending on the requirements |
Ever gotten frustrated that your powerful flashlight is too bulky for everyday carry, but your small EDC light isn’t up for serious tasks? A new project on Kickstarter is aiming to bridge that gap with a clever, modular design. Meet the Lumstrik flashlight, a tool that promises blinding output and a shape-shifting body, now seeking funding from backers.
At its core, the Lumstrik isn't just another bright flashlight. Its defining feature is a unique, two-part aluminum body. The handle can be physically unscrewed and swapped out. Use the full-length grip for maximum power and runtime, or attach a much shorter grip to convert it into a compact, pocket-friendly EDC light. This physical transformation comes with a direct trade-off: the short grip holds only one 21700 battery, while the long grip accommodates two.
This modularity significantly impacts performance. With the dual-battery setup, Lumstrik boasts a runtime of 30 hours in its 100-lumen low mode and 3 hours at a blistering 2,000 lumens on high. Switch to the compact single-battery mode, and those numbers are halved—15 hours on low and 1.5 hours on high. The headline-grabbing 5,000-lumen "Turbo" mode is a burst feature, draining even the dual-cell setup in approximately three minutes.

Beyond raw power, the design focuses on usability. The reflector is engineered to cover a wide 90-degree area, with the most intense beam concentrated in the central 20 degrees. For adverse conditions, an optional amber filter aims to cut through fog and snow while reducing night-time glare for the user. Durability is also a key sell, with an IP68 certification for dust and water resistance and a claimed ability to survive drops from up to 6.6 feet.
In its full-length configuration, the Lumstrik measures 9.45 x 2.36 x 1.1 inches and weighs 18.1 ounces including batteries. The short grip naturally reduces both the footprint and the weight.
Pricing, Availability, and the Crowdfunding Caveat
The Lumstrik is currently in the crowdfunding phase. An early bird pledge of $129 secures the flashlight with the long grip and two 21700 batteries. The short grip, amber filter, and an extra rechargeable battery are available as $15 add-ons each. Shipping and potential import fees are additional and vary by location.
If the campaign stays on schedule, deliveries are projected to begin in May 2026. It’s important to note that this is the creator's first Kickstarter project. As with any crowdfunding venture, potential backers are advised to exercise caution. Products can face delays, specifications may change, and there's an inherent risk that the final product may differ from what’s promised.

The Lumstrik’s modular pitch is undoubtedly innovative, offering tangible flexibility for users who need both a powerhouse and a pocket light. Whether it becomes a versatile tool for outdoors enthusiasts and professionals or a novel concept that struggles in execution will depend on its journey from prototype to production. For now, it shines a light on an interesting new direction in portable illumination.
