| Hermès now offers an expensive MagSafe charger with a leather carrying case. |
Apple and Hermès have shared a long-standing collaboration, one that has traditionally focused on elevating the Apple Watch with meticulously crafted leather straps. You can still find those starting at around $219 on Amazon, a relative bargain compared to what the French luxury house has just unveiled. As part of its spring collection, Hermès has introduced a new lineup of accessories for Apple users that redefines what “premium” means—in both design and price.
The centerpiece of the release is the Hermès Paddock Duo MagSafe charger, a dual charging pad clad entirely in leather. On the left, a dedicated spot for the Apple Watch; on the right, a higher-output pad designed to deliver faster charging for iPhone. At first glance, it looks like a sophisticated addition to any nightstand or desk. But beneath the elegant exterior lies a few practical considerations worth noting.
For one, the cable is fully integrated into the design. That means if it frays, wears out, or simply stops working, it cannot be easily replaced. You’re looking at a repair—or replacement—of the entire unit. Additionally, Hermès does not include a USB-C power adapter in the box. To get the Paddock Duo up and running, you’ll need to supply your own adapter capable of delivering at least 20 watts. It’s a surprising omission for a device at this price point, especially given what the full package costs.
And what a cost it is.
The Paddock Duo charger is available on its own for $1,750. But the real conversation starter is the set that pairs the charger with the Grand Paddock carrying case. That combination rings in at $5,150—more than three times the price of a 256 GB iPhone 17 Pro.
You can see the full set on Hermès’ official online shop here.
So what does a five-thousand-dollar charging kit actually get you? Beyond the charger itself, the Grand Paddock case is crafted in France, a detail that likely accounts for a significant portion of the steep pricing. It’s designed to hold the MagSafe charger along with enough extra space for a USB-C adapter and smaller accessories like additional Apple Watch straps or cables. It’s part protective case, part travel organizer—but undeniably priced as a luxury collectible.
For those looking for a slightly more approachable entry point, Hermès is also offering a bundle with a smaller oval case priced at $4,225.
From a practical standpoint, this release isn’t really about charging technology. The Paddock Duo delivers the same MagSafe functionality Apple users are already familiar with, wrapped in Hermès’ signature leather craftsmanship. It’s an accessory aimed squarely at collectors, fashion enthusiasts, and anyone who views tech accessories through the lens of haute couture.
The collaboration between Apple and Hermès has always occupied an interesting space—bridging Silicon Valley functionality with Parisian atelier heritage. But with this latest release, the pendulum has swung decisively toward the latter. Whether that’s worth the price of admission depends entirely on whether you see a charging pad as a utility item or a statement piece.
One thing is certain: in the world of luxury tech accessories, Hermès continues to set the bar—both in design and in dollars.
