| DJI Mic Mini 2 or DJI Mic4? |
April is shaping up to be an absolute monster of a month for DJI. The drone and camera giant is currently on a full-blown “teaser roll,” with multiple product launches already on the calendar. First, the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 arrives on April 16, followed by the mysterious DJI Lito drones on April 23. And just when you thought you could catch your breath, DJI throws another teaser into the mix: a brand-new wireless microphone launching April 28.
Now, thanks to an official teaser from the company, we’ve got our first real look at what appears to be a surprising new audio device. The teaser, captioned simply “More Than Sound – April 28,” shows the silhouette of a tiny square that looks unmistakably similar to a DJI Mic transmitter. That’s right – DJI is either prepping a flagship follow-up or giving its budget-friendly option a colorful makeover.
What We Know So Far
The silhouette alone leaves room for interpretation, but the smart money is on either a DJI Mic 4 (a new flagship) or a DJI Mic Mini 2 (a refresh of the entry-level model). Here’s why the latter seems more likely: the DJI Mic 3 only just launched back in August 2025. That’s barely eight months ago. Releasing a direct successor to the Mic 3 so soon would be unusual, even for DJI’s aggressive product cadence.
On the other hand, the original DJI Mic Mini debuted in November 2024, making it nearly a year and a half old by the time April 28 rolls around. That’s a much more reasonable timeline for a refresh, especially in the fast-moving world of wireless audio.
“The Mic Mini is arguably due for a refresh,” one industry observer noted, pointing to the growing competition from Rode, Hollyland, and other brands that have been churning out compact, affordable mics with longer battery life and better features.
A Splash of Color: What the Teaser Reveals
Perhaps the most intriguing part of DJI’s teaser isn’t the shape – it’s the colors. The short video clip shared by DJI features a plethora of vibrant hues swirling around the mic’s silhouette. We’re talking pinks, blues, greens, and oranges – a far cry from the professional, all-black aesthetic of the DJI Mic 3.
This colorful approach would fit the DJI Mic Mini’s lifestyle-focused user base much better than the pro-oriented crowd. Content creators, vloggers, and TikTok enthusiasts love personalization, and a wireless mic that comes in multiple colors (or supports colorful accessories) could be a massive hit.
Of course, there’s always the possibility that DJI is simply teasing colorful stickers or new accessories designed to brighten up existing transmitters. The company has done similar things in the past with limited-edition skins and covers. But the teaser’s phrasing – “More Than Sound” – suggests something more substantial than just stickers.

Leaked Images Point Away from a Mic 4
Adding more fuel to the “Mic Mini 2” fire are recently leaked marketing images of the Osmo Pocket 4. Those leaks show the upcoming handheld gimbal camera bundled with a DJI Mic 3 as part of its “Creator Combo” package. If DJI were planning to launch a Mic 4 on April 28, it would be odd to see the Mic 3 still positioned as the flagship bundle partner for the Pocket 4 – a product that launches nearly two weeks earlier.
Instead, it makes perfect sense for DJI to reserve the April 28 slot for a more affordable, colorful refresh of the Mic Mini. That way, the company covers both ends of the market: the pro-level Mic 3 (and possibly a future Mic 4 later this year) and the budget-friendly, creator-friendly Mic Mini 2.
Could It Be Something Completely Different?
We’d be remiss not to mention the wildcard possibility. DJI’s teaser says “More Than Sound,” which could hint at a device that goes beyond just audio recording. Some fans are speculating about a smart microphone with built-in AI transcription, or even a tiny wireless mic that doubles as a remote control for DJI drones. Neither is outside the realm of possibility – DJI loves to blur the lines between categories.
But given the silhouette, the timing, and the colorful hints, the DJI Mic Mini 2 remains the strongest bet.
What to Expect Next
With launches on April 16 (Osmo Pocket 4), April 23 (Lito drones), and now April 28 (wireless mic), DJI is clearly emptying its product pipeline before the summer. Whether you’re a vlogger, a filmmaker, or just a tech enthusiast, this month is going to be packed with announcements.
Stay tuned for hands-on impressions and full coverage as each product drops. And if you’re in the market for a new wireless mic, you might want to hold off on that Mic Mini purchase for just another week – the sequel looks like it’s going to be a whole lot more colorful.
