| "Like-new" models of the Kindle Scribe (16GB) are currently discounted by $70. |
If you have been holding off on buying a new e-reader because of the rising prices of the 2026 lineup, Amazon just dropped a deal you need to see. The retail giant has slashed prices on several "Like-New" Kindle models, including the popular Kindle Colorsoft, Paperwhite, and the note-taking Kindle Scribe.
While these are certified refurbished units—meaning they are pre-owned but tested to look and work like new—they offer a massive opportunity to score premium reading tech for significantly less than the latest models.
Why "Like-New" is the Smart Money Move Right Now
With the newest Kindle generation carrying considerably higher price tags, these older (but still incredibly capable) devices are the sweet spot for budget-conscious readers. Amazon puts these devices through a rigorous testing process, including a full diagnostic test, data wipe, and battery check.
Here is a breakdown of the top deals currently live:
- Kindle Paperwhite (16GB): $152.99
- Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (32GB): $190.99
- Kindle Colorsoft (16GB): $220.99
- Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition (32GB): $243.99
- Kindle Scribe (16GB): $284.99
The Best Deal: Paperwhite vs. The Entry-Level Kindle
The standout offer here is undoubtedly the Kindle Paperwhite at $152.99. This is a fantastic value proposition when you compare it to the brand-new entry-level Kindle (2026).
For just about $3 more than the base model, you are getting a vastly superior device. The Paperwhite offers a 7-inch display (compared to the 6-inch on the base model), a waterproof housing, and double the battery life—lasting up to 12 weeks compared to just six.

Even though it is a previous-generation model, the Scribe is a powerhouse. It features a large 11-inch glare-free display with a paper-like feel, an included pen that never needs charging, and the ability to write directly in books or import documents from Microsoft OneDrive and Google Drive.
