| The Motorola Edge 70 Pro is offered in at least three colors, including Pantone Titan. |
Motorola is wasting no time building hype. Just days before the official unveiling of its next mid-range powerhouse, the Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart has quietly launched a teaser website showcasing the Motorola Edge 70 Pro – and the early specs suggest this could be one of the most compelling smartphones in its segment this year.
Scheduled for a full reveal on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, the Edge 70 Pro has already started turning heads thanks to a combination of flagship-grade features, a massive battery, and a strikingly vibrant design. The teaser page, which went live earlier this week, confirms several key details that Motorola fans have been eagerly waiting for.
If you’ve been following the rumor mill, you’ll know that Motorola recently launched the more affordable Motorola Edge 70 ($599 on Amazon). The new Edge 70 Pro shares a similar design language but comes across as slightly thicker and more robust – and for a very good reason.
Bigger Battery, Better Endurance
The most obvious change is under the hood – or rather, inside the chassis. The Motorola Edge 70 Pro packs a colossal 6,500 mAh battery, a significant jump over the standard Edge 70. To put that into perspective, you’re looking at a battery that can easily power through two full days of mixed usage, something Motorola itself is proudly advertising.
“Two days of battery life” – but as any smartphone user knows, real-world results vary depending on screen time, gaming, and background apps. Still, 6,500 mAh is the kind of number that typically belongs to rugged phones or dedicated gaming devices, not a sleek mid-ranger.
Charging speeds have also received a welcome boost. The device supports 90W wired charging via the included USB-C adapter. That means you can top up from near-empty to full in well under an hour – a lifesaver for power users who don’t want to be tethered to a wall outlet for long.
The extra thickness? Almost certainly a trade-off for that enormous battery cell and the advanced cooling solution Motorola has implemented (more on that in a moment).
Three Stunning Pantone Colors
Motorola has continued its partnership with the Pantone Color Institute, and the Edge 70 Pro arrives in three eye-catching finishes:
- Pantone Lily White with a subtle marble texture – elegant and premium.
- Pantone Tea – a soothing, nature-inspired green.
- Pantone Titan – a deep, confident blue.
The marble texture on the white variant is particularly interesting. It adds grip and a unique visual flair that should help the phone stand out in a sea of glossy glass sandwiches. You can already preview these colors on the official Flipkart teaser page, where Motorola is encouraging shoppers to sign up for launch notifications.
MediaTek Dimensity 8500: A New 4nm Contender
Under the glass, the Edge 70 Pro is powered by a brand-new MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset. Built on a 4nm process, this ARM-based processor takes an interesting approach to core configuration:
- 1x Cortex-A725 performance core clocked at 3.4 GHz (boost)
- 3x Cortex-A725 cores running at 3.2 GHz
- 4x Cortex-A725 efficiency cores at 2.2 GHz
Yes, you read that right – all eight cores are Cortex-A725 derivatives, but they’re binned and clocked differently to balance peak performance and power efficiency. That’s a departure from the usual big.LITTLE setups with separate efficiency microarchitectures. Early impressions suggest this could give the Dimensity 8500 a strong multi-core advantage in sustained workloads.
To keep thermals in check, Motorola has included a vapor chamber cooling system – a feature typically reserved for gaming phones. Combined with up to 12 GB of RAM, multitasking and heavy app usage should feel buttery smooth.
A Display That Pushes Boundaries
The 6.8-inch AMOLED panel on the Edge 70 Pro is nothing short of impressive on paper. Here are the headline numbers:
- Peak HDR brightness: 5,200 nits – one of the brightest displays ever announced on a smartphone. That’s well into “visible under direct sunlight” territory.
- Refresh rate: 144 Hz – smoother than the 120 Hz standard, which will benefit scrolling, gaming, and UI animations.
- AMOLED technology means deep blacks and vibrant colors.
If Motorola can deliver even a fraction of that peak brightness in real-world HDR content, the Edge 70 Pro might become a favorite for streaming video and outdoor photography. The 144Hz refresh rate also positions it as a solid option for competitive mobile gamers who value fluidity.
Triple 50MP Camera Setup
Motorola isn’t skimping on optics either. The Edge 70 Pro features a triple 50-megapixel camera system:
- 50 MP main camera with a Sony LYT-710 sensor – a modern, light-hungry sensor that should deliver excellent dynamic range and low-light performance.
- 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera – perfect for landscapes and group shots.
- 50 MP selfie camera – punch-hole mounted, capable of crisp self-portraits and high-quality video calls.
While Motorola hasn’t confirmed optical image stabilization (OIS) for the main sensor, the Sony LYT-710 often includes sensor-shift or lens-based stabilization in other implementations. We’ll have to wait for the full launch to know for sure, but the hardware foundation is undeniably strong.
The phone is also waterproof – likely an IP67 or IP68 rating, though the teaser site doesn’t specify the exact certification. Given Motorola’s recent track record, some level of dust and water resistance is almost guaranteed.
Software and Update Promise
Out of the box, the Motorola Edge 70 Pro runs Android 16 – the very latest version of Google’s operating system. But what’s even more important for long-term buyers is the update policy:
- At least three major Android updates (so up to Android 19)
- Five years of security patches
That puts Motorola on par with some of the best in the industry for software longevity. For a mid-range device, this is a huge selling point, especially for users who plan to keep their phone for three or four years.
Motorola’s software experience remains close to stock Android with a few useful additions (ThinkShield security, Moto Actions, and the ever-popular Moto Display). Bloatware has been minimal in recent years, and we hope that trend continues with the Edge 70 Pro.
Official Announcement Coming April 22
Motorola India has already started teasing the launch on social media. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), the company shared a glimpse of the Edge 70 Pro’s design and directed followers to the Flipkart microsite. You can see the official teaser here:
The full unveiling is set for Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Given that Flipkart is the exclusive retail partner (at least for the Indian market), we expect the phone to go on sale shortly after the launch event – possibly within days.
How Does It Compare to the Standard Edge 70?
For those who missed the earlier release, the Motorola Edge 70 is currently available for $599 on Amazon. It features a slightly smaller battery, a less powerful chipset, and a lower peak brightness. The Edge 70 Pro, by contrast, targets users who want premium endurance and display performance without jumping to flagship prices.
Of course, pricing for the Edge 70 Pro hasn’t been revealed yet. Given the upgrades, expect a starting price somewhere between $699 and $799 in global markets, with Indian pricing likely falling in the ₹45,000–₹55,000 range. That would still undercut many flagship devices while offering comparable features in key areas like battery life, screen smoothness, and charging speed.
Final Thoughts: A Mid-Ranger That Doesn’t Cut Corners
Motorola seems to have learned the right lessons from the competitive mid-range market. The Edge 70 Pro isn’t trying to be the thinnest phone – instead, it embraces a bit of heft to deliver a 6,500 mAh battery that few rivals can match. The 144Hz AMOLED with 5,200 nits peak brightness is overkill in the best possible way. And the Dimensity 8500 plus vapor chamber cooling suggests Motorola is serious about sustained performance.
Throw in the triple 50MP cameras, Android 16 with long-term updates, and those gorgeous Pantone finishes, and you have a smartphone that deserves your attention.
The only remaining questions are price and availability outside India. We’ll know all the details on April 22. Until then, the Flipkart teaser site is the best place to stay updated.
