Xiaomi is just days away from giving its Redmi lineup a major shot in the arm, and the early benchmark numbers are already turning heads.

The company recently confirmed that the Redmi K Pad 2 will make its debut in China on April 21. But in a move that caught many off guard, Xiaomi revealed almost simultaneously that this launch event will also play host to another heavy hitter: the Redmi K90 Max.

Now, just days before the official unveiling, the Redmi K90 Max has started surfacing on Geekbench—and the early numbers suggest this mid-range warrior is ready to punch way above its weight class.

Dimensity 9500 and a Secret Weapon: The D2 Chip

For reference, Xiaomi has been boasting on Chinese social media about the raw power inside the K90 Max, specifically highlighting its MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset paired with a mysterious “D2” discrete graphics chip. This dual-chip setup is clearly doing some heavy lifting.

According to the fresh Geekbench listings, these components help the Redmi K90 Max outscore every single Dimensity 9500-backed smartphone we’ve reviewed so far. Yes, that includes the recently reviewed Oppo Find X9 Pro, which we thought was nearly untouchable.

Trading Blows with the Galaxy S26 Ultra

So, just how fast is it? On the CPU side, performance is exactly what we’ve come to expect from the Dimensity 9500’s octa-core architecture—which is to say, it’s blazing fast. The Redmi K90 Max is reportedly trading blows with modern flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and even the OnePlus 15 (currently available for $899 on Amazon).

That’s rarified air for a device that will likely cost a fraction of those premium handsets. The Geekbench listing also confirms that Xiaomi plans to offer the Redmi K90 Max with up to 16GB of RAM, ensuring that multitasking and gaming feel buttery smooth.

What to Expect on April 21

With the Redmi K Pad 2 and K90 Max sharing the stage next week, Xiaomi is clearly doubling down on performance-per-dollar. The K90 Max, in particular, looks like it could redefine what we expect from a “flagship killer” in 2026.

We’ll have full coverage of the April 21 launch event, including local pricing and availability. But if these Geekbench scores are anything to go by, Samsung and OnePlus might want to keep an eye on their rearview mirrors.
