If you’ve been keeping an eye on HP’s latest compact desktop, there’s some good news for budget-conscious buyers. The company has quietly rolled out a new, more affordable base configuration for its OmniDesk Mini PC, which runs on the Intel Wildcat Lake platform.
While the original launch model started with a 256GB SSD, this new entry-level variant shakes things up by offering 128GB of UFS internal storage. It’s a move that lowers the barrier to entry, but it does come with a few trade-offs worth noting.
The Specs Shuffle: RAM and Storage Changes
Interestingly, this new configuration isn’t just about swapping the SSD for slower UFS storage. HP has also switched out the LPDDR5X RAM found in the pricier model for standard DDR5 memory.
However, if you’re hoping to crack open the chassis and upgrade the RAM later, you might be disappointed. HP’s promotional materials list the memory as "onboard," meaning it is soldered directly to the motherboard and cannot be upgraded. That’s a bit of a bummer for longevity, though the 8GB of DDR5 running at 5,600MT/s should handle basic daily tasks fine.
The spec sheet doesn't specify exactly which UFS standard is being used, but the good news is that storage expansion is still possible. If 128GB feels a bit cramped, users can install an NVMe SSD via the internal M.2 slot.

Aside from the memory and storage shuffle, the rest of the machine remains identical to the pricier 256GB SSD model. Under the hood, it’s powered by the Intel Core 3 304 processor, which serves as an entry-level option within the Wildcat Lake series.
Despite its compact form factor, the port selection is surprisingly robust. The chassis offers:
