| The Nintendo Switch 2 Monster Hunter Wilds bundle will be sold in Japan only. |
The Nintendo Switch 2 has been on the market for more than a year now, and Nintendo has already released a handful of console-and-game bundles. But the company’s latest bundle is a big one — and, at least for now, it appears to be exclusive to Japan.
Nintendo has announced a new Nintendo Switch 2 + Monster Hunter Wilds bundle, and its release will coincide with the launch of the Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds. The game originally launched in February 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, where it became an immediate phenomenon. It sold 8 million copies in just three days and has since moved over 11 million copies worldwide, making it Capcom’s fastest-selling video game ever. Now, Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled to arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, and the new bundle is expected to be in high demand.
For players in Japan who want to secure the bundle, Nintendo’s official Japanese store listing can be found here: Nintendo’s official Japanese store listing. As of now, there has been no report of the bundle being released in Europe or North America, so Western fans may have to wait — or look on enviously from afar.
This isn’t the first time Japan has received an exclusive Switch 2 bundle. A few months ago, Nintendo released a Switch 2 + Splatoon Raiders bundle for its home market, so the company has already shown a willingness to keep certain bundles close to home. Whether the Monster Hunter Wilds bundle will eventually make its way westward remains unclear, but for the moment, it seems to be a Japan-only affair.
What’s Included in the Nintendo Switch 2 Monster Hunter Wilds Bundle?
Monster Hunter Wilds releases on the Switch 2 on December 4.
When the Switch 2 + Monster Hunter Wilds bundle launches, it will cost JPY 61,980, which works out to roughly $407 or €351 depending on exchange rates. For that price, buyers will get a Nintendo Switch 2 console, a digital download code for Monster Hunter Wilds, and a 90-day membership for Nintendo Switch Online. The bundle does not appear to include a physical copy of the game, so players will need to download it using the included code.
One detail worth noting is that the console and Joy-Cons included in this bundle seem to be the original version, rather than the newer European version that features a user-replaceable battery. That may matter to some buyers who are keeping an eye on hardware revisions, but for most players, it will likely be a minor point compared to the appeal of getting the console and one of the year’s biggest games together.
Discounts and Editions for Existing Switch 2 Owners
Nintendo and Capcom haven’t forgotten about people who already own a Switch 2. Those players will be able to purchase the standard edition of Monster Hunter Wilds at a discounted price of JPY 3,742, down from the original price of JPY 4,990. That discount is scheduled to remain available until January 7, 2027.
There’s also a Gold Edition available for JPY 7,990. That version includes the base game and the Cosmetic DLC Collection, making it a more complete package for fans who want extra in-game cosmetics. Meanwhile, players in Europe and the United States will be able to purchase the digital copy of the standard edition for €39.99 and $39.99 respectively.
Why This Bundle Could Fly Off Shelves
Given how quickly Monster Hunter Wilds sold on other platforms, it’s no surprise that Nintendo and Capcom are betting on the Switch 2 version to perform well. The series has a massive global audience, and the idea of playing a mainline Monster Hunter game on a Nintendo handheld-hybrid console is an appealing one. The Switch 2’s improved hardware should also make the port more viable than it would have been on the original Switch.
For now, though, the bundle remains a Japan-exclusive release. That means fans in Europe and North America may need to wait for an official announcement, or hope that Nintendo decides to bring the bundle overseas later. If the game’s popularity is anything to go by, this is one bundle that won’t stay on shelves for long.
