Timex has added three new 40mm variants to its Q Timex Chronograph collection, just a month after introducing three fresh Q Timex Continental chronographs. The latest references — TW2Y88500, TW2Y88600 and TW2Y88700 — share the same retro motorsport-inspired formula, but each gets its own dial, bezel and strap combination to help it stand apart.
For fans of the Q Timex line, the update is a reminder of why the collection continues to attract attention. These are quartz chronographs with vintage-flavoured design cues, practical everyday specs and a price point that sits well below many enthusiast chronographs. The three new models also give buyers a clear choice: two bracelet versions with brighter, racing-style dials, and one leather-strap option with a more understated military feel.
TW2Y88500: The Green Racing Option
The TW2Y88500 is the most overtly racing-inspired of the trio. It combines a green dial with black chronograph subdials and a matching green tachymeter bezel, all set inside a stainless-steel case. Timex pairs it with a silver-tone bracelet, giving the watch a classic steel chronograph look.
Luminous hands and hour markers help with low-light readability, while the bracelet uses quick-release spring bars and a deployant clasp. It is a practical setup for anyone who likes to swap straps without reaching for tools, though the bracelet-equipped design already gives the watch a cohesive, sporty appearance.
TW2Y88600: Ice-Blue Contrast
The TW2Y88600 follows the same bracelet-equipped format but switches to an ice-blue dial. Three black subdials create a sharp contrast, and the tachymeter bezel is finished in black to match. The result is a cooler, cleaner take on the Q Timex Chronograph aesthetic.
At 135.06 g, it is only slightly lighter than the 135.72 g TW2Y88500 — a difference most wearers are unlikely to notice on the wrist, but it is a reminder that the two bracelet models are closely related. For anyone drawn to lighter dials with strong legibility, this version may be the standout.
TW2Y88700: Khaki Dial, Leather Strap
The TW2Y88700 takes a more restrained route. It features a khaki-coloured dial, black subdials and a brown tachymeter bezel. Instead of a steel bracelet, Timex fits an 18 mm brown leather strap, which it says is sourced through the Leather Working Group.
That strap change has a big impact on weight: the TW2Y88700 comes in at just 78.1 g. It also shifts the watch away from the full racing look of its siblings and towards something more casual and vintage-leaning. If you prefer leather on a chronograph, this is likely the most natural pick of the three.
Shared Specifications
Despite the different styling, all three watches share the same core specifications. The stainless-steel case measures 40 mm across, 46.5 mm from lug to lug and 15 mm thick. An acrylic crystal protects the dial, water resistance is rated at 50 metres, and a date window sits alongside the chronograph display.
A quartz analogue movement powered by an SR927SW battery drives the watch. The tachymeter scale can be used with the chronograph to calculate average speed, continuing the motorsport-inspired theme that runs across the wider Q Timex Chronograph family.
UK Pricing and Availability
Timex UK has priced the bracelet-equipped TW2Y88500 and TW2Y88600 at £230 each. The leather-strap TW2Y88700 is priced at £205. All three are currently listed as new models on Timex’s UK website, and they should appear on other storefronts shortly.
For buyers who want a retro-style chronograph with a genuine racing edge, the green TW2Y88500 is the most dramatic. The ice-blue TW2Y88600 offers a cleaner, cooler alternative, while the khaki TW2Y88700 is the subtle, leather-strap option. Together, they give the Q Timex Chronograph line a broader range without moving away from what made it popular in the first place.
