Konami is bringing the Belmont legacy back to its roots with Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, a brand-new 2D action-exploration game launching October 15, 2026, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The announcement arrives during the franchise's 40th anniversary year, marking a significant return to the side-scrolling format that defined the series.

A New Belmont Rises in Medieval Paris

Set in 1499 Paris—23 years after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse—players step into the boots of Rose Belmont, daughter of the legendary Trevor Belmont. The city has been engulfed in flames as monstrous creatures emerge from the shadows, and Rose must wield the iconic Vampire Killer whip to uncover the dark conspiracy threatening the French capital.

The story follows Rose as she ventures through burning streets and explores the catacombs beneath Paris, hunting the mysterious monster known as The Fallen. According to the official Konami website, the game depicts "the growth of Rose Belmont" through faster and more fluid gameplay than previous entries.

Tarot Cards Replace Traditional Sub-Weapons

One of the most intriguing gameplay innovations is the Tarot Arcana system. Rose carries a tarot deck inherited from her mother, Sypha Belnades. Defeated bosses become sealed into these cards, granting Rose access to powerful spells and special actions. Each Arcana features optional challenges called "Works of Mercy," and completing them unlocks upgrades known as Blessings.

The Steam listing reveals additional details about combat customization, including seven weapon categories and various magical relics that allow players to tailor Rose's fighting style to their preferences.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Bridges Animation and Games

The voice cast brings together talent from both the gaming world and Netflix's acclaimed Castlevania animated series. Abby Trott, known for her roles as Nezuko Kamado in Demon Slayer and Tae Takemi in Persona 5 Royal, voices Rose Belmont. According to her IMDb profile, Trott has established herself as one of the most prolific voice actresses in anime and gaming.

JB Blanc, a veteran actor with over 170 video game credits including Rost in Horizon Zero Dawn, takes on the role of Trevor Belmont. His extensive filmography, detailed on IMDb, spans television hits like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, alongside numerous animation and gaming projects.

The cast also features returning talent from the Netflix series, with Alejandra Reynoso reprising her role as Sypha Belnades and Graham McTavish returning as Dracula. Liam O'Brien rounds out the ensemble, voicing Isaac from Castlevania: Curse of Darkness.

Demo Available Now with Progress Transfer

A free demo launched on October 1 across all four platforms, allowing players to sample the game before its full release. Notably, progress carries over to the complete version—a consumer-friendly feature that respects players' time investment.

Early players have already discovered hidden content within the demo, including the Cestus gauntlets, a weapon that deals increasing damage with consecutive hits.

Platform Performance Details

Konami has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch version runs at 30 fps, while other platforms target 60 fps. However, early reports suggest the demo performs closer to 60 fps on Switch 2 through backward compatibility. The company has not officially confirmed this, and no native Switch 2 version has been announced.

Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses

Two editions are available for pre-order. The Standard Edition retails at $29.99, while the **Midnight Edition** at $39.99 includes a digital sound and art gallery featuring over 100 concept designs, Trevor and Sypha costumes, and the Family's Grace relic. Pre-ordering either edition grants an exclusive Alucard costume.

With its blend of classic Metroidvania exploration, innovative tarot-based combat, and a story bridging generations of Belmont heroes, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse looks poised to satisfy longtime fans while welcoming newcomers to the franchise.
