A 90% Discount on a Modern RPG Classic
Originally released in 2011, Skyrim is the fifth main entry in Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls series. It has become one of the studio’s most successful RPGs, selling more than 60 million copies worldwide. Players take on the role of the Dragonborn, exploring a huge open world, completing quests, and developing skills along the way. Its open-ended structure lets players travel freely and ignore the main quest for as long as they want.
What’s Included in the Special Edition?
For PC players who want to grab the deal, you can find it here: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition on Steam.
The Special Edition launched in 2016 as a remastered version of the original. It added upgraded visuals and effects, plus an enhanced engine. It also brought Bethesda’s Creations platform to PC, giving players access to additional quests, environments, characters, equipment, and other content.
On top of that, the Special Edition includes Skyrim’s three major original expansions: Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn. So for $3.99, players are getting the base game, remastered improvements, and a huge amount of extra content.
Why Skyrim Still Draws Players In
At launch, Skyrim was critically acclaimed. Reviewers praised its world design, character progression, and visual presentation, though its combat and technical problems also attracted criticism. The Special Edition currently holds a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with more than 131,000 positive user reviews.
Steam also flags the game for mature content, noting blood and gore, intense violence, sexual themes, use of alcohol, and language.
A Deal Ending Soon
For PC players who have never experienced Skyrim, or for veterans looking for an inexpensive return to Bethesda’s fantasy world, the $3.99 sale price is available until October 8. If you’ve been holding out for the right price, this is about as low as it gets.
