| How to record data while watching Netflix on Android |
Sometimes we like to watch Netflix offers on the go, but it uses a lot of data. This is why Netflix uses a new codec that records your data while maintaining video quality when viewed in the app.
On his blog, Netflix said: "The new AV1 codec provides 20% more data efficient than the old VP9 codec. To save this data, you must activate the settings in the application."
How to enable data provider settings in the Netflix app:
- Open the app on your Android phone.
- Go to more and click on application settings.
- In the Video Playback area, click the "Use mobile data" option.
- Select the option to save the data.
The company said that it currently only provides available titles for this new codec, but it does not only intend to transfer the codec to other platforms, but to add all titles using AV1.
