Sony announces the sale of 110 million PlayStation 4

Sony announced today (Wednesday) its financial results for the quarter ended March 31, which resulted in sales of the PlayStation 4 platform.

The Japanese company announced that more than 110 million units have been sold since the launch of the (PlayStation 4) platform in November 2013.

Last February, Sony (PlayStation 4) sold about 108.9 million units. The company is now preparing to launch the next generation platform (PlayStation 5) later this year.

During the last fiscal quarter, from January 1, 2020 to March 31, 2020, Sony sold approximately 1.5 million units of the platform, and thus sales decreased by about 2.6 million units in the same period last year, indicating that this decrease may be due to Consumers want to launch PlayStation 5 by the end of 2020.

It should be noted that the PlayStation 4 platform has achieved strong sales in the past seven years because it is the second best platform (with more than 155 million units sold after the PlayStation 2 platform).

Regarding the upcoming PlayStation 5 platform, Sony today acknowledged that the upcoming Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic brought some challenges, but the Christmas season 2020 release date was not an exchange.
