Microsoft joins boycott Facebook ads

Facebook's resistance to the crisis intensified with a number of other major advertisers, including Microsoft, Ford and Adidas, who announced that they would withdraw funds.

Key advertisers continue to participate in the Stop Hate for Profit campaign and pledge to stop spending money on Facebook ads in July to force the company to take more action to stop the spread of hatred and disinformation.

Activist Sleep Giants Group said that at least 184 companies joined Facebook anti-hate politics protests, including some of its biggest customers, Reebok, Lee Wei and Crocker, in some cases, freezing spending for six months.

Microsoft is reported to have stopped advertising on Facebook and Instagram in the U.S. in May, and recently expanded its spending to August.

Unlike many advertisers who recently joined the Facebook boycott, Microsoft is concerned about where its ads are appearing, in compliance with Facebook guidelines. However, this decision means that another major advertiser has stopped spending on Facebook.

According to advertising company Pathmatics, the new wave is the biggest impact on Facebook so far, and Microsoft alone has spent more than $ 115 million on Facebook ads in 2019.

Adidas and its subsidiary Reebok have stopped advertising on Facebook and Instagram worldwide. By the end of July, the company announced that it would set standards and require that each partner be responsible for creating and maintaining a safe environment.

The Best Buy consumer e-commerce department has announced that it will temporarily stop advertising on Facebook and Instagram from July 1.

Cleaning giant Clorox stopped advertising on Facebook and Instagram until December. Spending will be transferred to other media platforms, and Facebook Audience will stop spending.

Ford has announced that it will suspend all US social media ads within the next 30 days to assess its presence on the platform.

Hewlett-Packard has announced that it will stop advertising in the United States on Facebook.

Edgewell Personal Care has announced that it will temporarily suspend paid ads in North America and Europe for 25 Facebook and Instagram brands from Wednesday until further notice.

Sportswear maker Puma said on Twitter that he would join the "Stop Hate for profit" campaign and stop advertising on Facebook and Instagram in July.

These companies have joined Coca-Cola, Honda, Diego, Starbucks, Verizon and Unilever. In some cases, the company has also stopped advertising on other social media platforms.

The boycott came after a group of organizations asked Facebook advertisers to stop spending social media in July. These organizations have accused Facebook of permitting the publication of racist, violent and misleading content on its platform.
