Thanks Amanda, explain how to format this file for current Mac OS. Here is a slightly updated version of the description:
Open the disk utility.
From the View menu, choose Show All Devices.
Select WD Elements on the left side of the window.
Right-click and choose "Delete" from the context menu.
Suppose you have an existing OS-X view, create a name and choose "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".
The player will be reformatted in about a minute.
I followed these instructions and it was easy. I can use it as a Time Machine backup disk. Keep it in case of a USB hub connected to the computer. Reviews indicated that some people's drives failed, but I also made a backup of the cloud. However, this only supports the latest version of each file. Time Machine provided me with a backup every hour in the last 24 hours so that I could accidentally restore the content that I overwrite.
I used the old Synology 212+ on Time Machine, but after proceeding with reinstallation, it crashed during installation and lost all my data. In this case the useless RAID. I was thinking of buying a newer and faster NAS, but it was expensive and decided to buy it now at least. Unlike Synology, which is accessible via WiFi, it is not saved when I remove my laptop from the office, but I still do the most important work in the office.
I bought it for $ 5 instead of a newer and cheaper version because I prefer sharp and rounded corners. The rough surface does not appear to show fingerprints, a problem reported by users of the latest glossy version.
