| Elon Musk: Bill Gates is clueless about electric trucks |
Elon Musk, CEO of electric car maker Tesla, has criticized billionaire Bill Gates' stance toward the viability of electric trucks.
When asked by a Twitter user on Saturday what he thought of Gates, Musk replied: He doesn't know.
On August 24, Gates shared his stance on electric cars and wrote: The best and cheapest batteries make electric cars a realistic choice for every car owner.
However, he wonders whether current or future battery technology can be expanded to power larger vehicles.
Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, wrote: Even with major breakthroughs in battery technology, electric vehicles are unlikely to become viable solutions for vehicles such as under-18 vehicles, cargo planes, and passenger aircraft.
He said, "It is fair to use electricity for short distances, but we need different solutions for heavy and long vehicles."
Gates explained that alternative fuels such as biofuels or electric fuels could be a better and more environmentally friendly way to operate large trucks (such as trucks), and said that the battery would be very strong, large and heavy.
Gates also praised many of the automakers making all-electric pickups, such as General Motors (GM), Ford (Ford), Revian (Rivian) and Bollinger, but did not mention truck maker (Cyber Tesla).
At the time of Gates' comments, Musk was developing an electric car. Tesla Semi launched in 2017 and is expected to ship to customers in 2019.
The electric truck is two years behind the original plan, and Tesla now hopes to deliver it to the owner in 2021.
According to reports, this is not the first time that Gates and Musk have quarreled over Gates, criticizing Musk's inaccurate public comments about (COVID-19).
In February, Musk said: After the billionaire announced to Microsoft that his first electric car was not made by Tesla but by a Porsche Taycan, his previous conversation with Gates was disappointing.
