| Update to iOS 14 may remove Fortnite from iPhone |
Fortnite game developers are warning iPhone players that updating to the new iOS 14 risks losing access to the popular game.
As mentioned in the account tweet (Fortnite status), Fortnite players who have updated their iPhone to iOS 14 may not be able to access the game. If you get a message (Do you want to temporarily remove this app to install software update?) That's okay. This will remove the game and the game cannot be reinstalled later because Apple is preventing users from doing so.
Apple provides users with the ability to remove apps temporarily to make way for important system updates. Since Fortnite has been kicked out of the Apple App Store, users who have already installed the game may not be able to download it again. If you remove it to make way for the new iOS 14.
In a subsequent tweet, the Fortnite account suggested that users first click Cancel, then click Settings, General, and Storage to free up space on the iPhone.
Apple launched a public lawsuit with developers (Epic Games) when Fortnite was fired from the App Store and Google Play Store in August after Epic tried to get past 30% of Apple and Google's developer fees. Then Epic filed a lawsuit against the two companies.
The iOS 14 update was released on September 16 and includes many new features for iPhone users, including the new Smart Stack tool and the ability to customize the iPhone Home screen.
