Your micro: bit is getting a new update

Since 2016, for the first time, the microcomputers used by millions of schoolchildren around the world have been extensively modernized so that the new paradigm includes artificial intelligence and machine learning functions.

This new type of computer also comes with an amplifier and a microphone so that audio-based projects do not need to connect to an external audio system, with the devices at the same time to respond and interact with the sound.

Micro: bit was formerly a BBC project and is now run by an organization that aims to make programming accessible to children.

The device is scheduled to be released next month. Prices start at £ 11.50.

"The purpose of Micro: bit is to help children reach their creative potential and learn to shape the world around them," said Gareth Stockdale, CEO of Micro Bit Education.

He added: Learning to code and think on computers can increase life chances in the 21st century.

This little computer has been designed for education since its inception. 25 million children in more than 60 countries learn computer skills using this device.

The previous model was launched in 2016 and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) made free mini computers available to seventh graders in the United Kingdom.

Now it has been used in most colleges, elementary schools, universities, and libraries.

The mini computer is a palm-sized circuit board with 25 lights that can be programmed to display letters, numbers and other shapes and contains a Bluetooth chip for wireless connectivity.

The owner does not have to directly enter the code into the computer, rather, he writes the script after choosing between four programming languages using a web tool on a computer, tablet or smartphone.

Once written, the collected script must be transferred to your micro: bit and then used as a standalone device that can display messages, record gestures, and other tasks via Flash.

It can also be connected to other electronic devices to create the brain of a robot, musical instrument, or any other combination.

The new model includes a better microprocessor, more memory, an onboard microphone, an amplifier, and a touch sensor.

Built-in speakers allow users to create music and create motion-sensitive interactive musical instruments while allowing the device to respond to sound using a microphone.

The capacity of the flash memory for the new model is twice that of the original model, the speed is four times, and the RAM is eight times.

With machines already powerful enough to operate machine learning systems, the organization plans to expand into this area in the future.

A micro: bit is usually compared to a Raspberry Pi, and a Raspberry Pi works on Linux and Windows and can be programmed directly, but a micro: bit does not work on a complete operating system and computer code must be written and posted somewhere. Aggregation.
