Facebook is testing dark mode for iOS and Android. Here's how to try

Facebook has publicly tested the dark mode of its apps on iOS and Android, as app researcher Jane Manchun Wong unveiled new options for social media apps on mobile devices to collaborate with Facebook to create videos in a tweet on Friday in which she posted new options for social media apps on mobile.

Facebook already offers a dark mode option for the desktop version, and many of the company's other mobile apps (including WhatsApp and Messenger) already have a dark mode. And also attract people with dark backgrounds. When users use the device in a dark environment, they usually think dark mode saves battery and reduces eye strain.

How to enable dark mode on Facebook:

This feature was introduced on Friday and it is unclear how many people will be included in the public test. Some have gone to social media to post the dark mode options that will appear on their Facebook app.

To see if this option is available, open the Facebook app on your phone, go to the menu icon in the upper right corner of the app, scroll down to "Settings" and "Privacy" and open this section. If you are part of the test, "Dark Mode" is listed here. Click "Dark Mode". You can then select “On”, “Off” or “System” which are set according to the system settings mode in the phone.
