Samsung seems to be considering adding Bixby Voice as a new biological option to unlock the phone with the upcoming Galaxy S21.

Biometric technology makes it easy for users to unlock the phone as all they have to do is place their finger on the sensor or look at the screen.

The addition of Bixby Voice as a new biological option to unlock phones is said to be part of the One UI 3.1 user interface, which is based on Android 11.

Samsung is expected to release a new One UI 3.1 interface based on Android 11 via its new flagship site.

According to the report, the updated user interface will only be available for the Galaxy S21 before it was rolled out to other Galaxy devices.

Samsung usually releases a new version of Android One UI with its latest flagship smartphone.

UI 2.1 was first shown with the Galaxy S20 and 2.5 UI on the Galaxy Note 20.

The report shows that Samsung's Bixby voice assistant (Bixby) previously provided the ability to unlock the device using the voice alert feature, but this feature is no longer available in Bixby.

The report says: Interface 3.1 allows you to select Bixby audio to unlock in the phone's lock screen security settings. However, the exact details of how it works are still unclear.

When the feature is released, it needs to be tested to see if it can replace fingerprint sensors or facial recognition technologies.

Voice assistants have become good at recognizing user voice, but it is not clear if Bixby Voice can distinguish between recorded and actual voice.

While biometric voice authentication can be provided to unlock phones and even lock apps, Samsung likely considers this to be a weak type of authentication that cannot be used for digital payments.

We'll soon hear about Samsung's plans due to rumors that the company is preparing for an Unpacked event in early January and we hope to learn more about the new features in the Galaxy S21 and One UI 3.1.
