Sony is investing $ 200 million in Epic Games

Sony announced another $ 200 million investment in Epic Games as part of its $ 1 billion donation plan.

More than a dozen investors participated in this funding round and the market value of Fortnite game developers is estimated to be $ 28.7 billion.

That's more than $ 10 billion more than the estimated value of Epic Games when the massive investment was made in July.

After the investment, Tim Sweeney (Tim Sweeney), CEO of Epic Games, remained the major contributor.

In the press release, Sweeney said, Epic Games is capitalizing on the investments to accelerate the social connectivity experience in Fortnite, Rocket League and Fall Guys, encouraging game developers and developers to use Unreal Engine and the Epic online service and empower the Epic Games Store.

In less than a year, Sony invested $ 250 million in Epic Games.

This enabled him to secure a 1.4% stake in the company worth $ 17.86 billion.

In a statement released alongside the new investment, Kenichiro Yoshida, Sony CEO, said: The company is committed to increasing collaboration to bring new entertainment experiences to people around the world.

This new investment is the latest sign of Sony's close relationship with Epic Games as Epic Games used Sony's PS5 gaming platform to deliver the next generation of Unreal Engine 5.

Sweeney said at the time: The two companies are working closely together on developing the PS5 storage architecture.

Although Epic Games has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on free and exclusive games for the Epic Games Store, Epic Games' ratings have skyrocketed.

After the iPhone maker removed Fortnite games from the App Store last year, the number recently surfaced in an ongoing legal battle between it and Apple.
