Android 12 lets you play games while they're downloading

At its Game Developers Summit July 12-13, Google announced a new feature for Android game developers.

The new feature moves the time from downloading from Google Play Store to playing games on devices with the latest OS version almost twice as fast.

The name of the new feature that turns on when you download it roughly says what it is.

Players can start playing before downloading background game files not related to previous levels.

This can be useful for especially large games. This is because you do not have to wait long to join the game and play.

The newest game might be the biggest app you download on average. With this new feature, Google promises to run a 400MB game in half the time.

If you are a fan of platform games, the whole concept will sound familiar because Sony does the same with PlayStation games.

This feature is suitable for games that use the Play Asset Delivery system. The developer does not need to do anything for this feature to work properly.

Support for Android 12 games

It is reported that this is not the first attempt by Google to speed up the loading of games. The company provides a related feature through Google Play Instant that allows players to instantly launch the game from the Google Play Store.

However, the idea here is to cancel the installation process and give potential players the opportunity to try out a new game right away.

Like Google Play Instant, the new download and playback function is supported by Google's AAB format, which basically replaces the old APK standard.

At the Game Developers Summit, Google also released a new game dashboard for Android 12 that gives you easy access to related utilities like screenshots, recordings, settings, brightness, etc. while playing the game.

The feature in question may also include options to prevent screen rotation and YouTube Live streaming to enable Do Not Disturb mode.

Google said: This dashboard will be available on select devices later this year.

The new version of Android is expected to include several other significant changes, including a major new design.
