The authorities use the Matrix protocol to create communication applications

Every day, millions of users communicate with each other through real-time chatting applications. These applications differ in the level of security and data protection, so applications that handle sensitive information need safer alternatives. This led to the matrix agreement.

French President Emmanuel Macron's campaign team also faced the same problem. Team members communicate with each other via the Telegram app.

Telegram provides a high level of security and privacy. However, the French government does not want to store its sensitive data on application servers originating in Russia. The same applies to WhatsApp in the USA.

Government use of the matrix agreement

This problem has persisted for a long time. Until the solution appeared within an open source project. It is a protocol capable of providing secure communication and encrypted with two-way encryption, which was known as Matrix.

The team developing this technology is based in the UK, not France. But the collaboration was so natural that Matthew Hodgson, co-founder of the project, said: "It's rare for the French and the British to work together.

The agreement was signed by Hodgson and Amandine Le Pape in 2014 when they were employees of the Israeli company Amdox.

The main goal of the project is to create a secure and encrypted messaging protocol as well as decentralized, that is, it is not controlled and managed by a specific company, it is accessible to everyone and has open standards.

Simply put, each person or entity can run the Matrix protocol on a separate server. Take France as an example, the country has built many applications based on the Matrix protocol and each department has a platform on several servers.

The Matrix protocol is very popular in the open source software market. In fact, the German government has begun to rely on it, as has Mozilla, the Firefox developer known for its keen interest in privacy.

The Matrix deal is free and open to everyone, but founders La Pape and Hodgson run the Matrix Corporation, which deals directly with customers.

The agreement is expected to be announced in various applications in the future and can be used by regular users. It has the highest level of protection and encryption. Due to the high level of security, the protocol and its applications can be abused.
