WhatsApp officially launched the "Show once" function

WhatsApp has launched its "Show Once" feature that removes photos or videos from a chat after a recipient opens the chat content. The platform hopes to better compete with the picture messaging app Snapchat.

When sending photos or videos, you can choose to show this content only once by clicking button 1 to the right of the send button. Once the recipient opens, it will be deleted.

After viewing the media content, the message appears as open. The recipient can see that it is a hidden image. So, you may want to use this feature on people who don't take screenshots (they don't know if they are taking screenshots).

In June of this year, Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that the job would start soon. Although there are few details about the release date.

As an example of how to use this feature, the platform uses an example of sending photos with sensitive information. Like WiFi passwords or share photos of clothes you've tried on

Such functions could have other, less useful uses. But in any case, it is worth choosing between hiding messages from the application (which currently disappear after a week) or getting a permanent chat history.

Known for its story feature that allows users to post updates that disappear after 24 hours, Snapchat has become increasingly popular over the past year due to pandemic restrictions keeping users at home.

The company has also added new features to its messaging app to help attract more users.

According to Facebook, this new feature should give users more control over their privacy.

"Sometimes users may want to share sensitive content that should not be saved permanently," she added. With a single view, you can be sure that the content will disappear after opening.

The company has also discussed introducing end-to-end encryption into its messaging services. He plans to make it interoperable in the future.

WhatsApp enabled end-to-end encryption by default in 2016. However, with Messenger and Instagram, extended data protection measures can take several years.
