HomePod mini has become the default speaker for Apple TV

Apple didn't talk about HomePods when it introduced the iPhone 13 series, but that doesn't mean its smart speakers won't get an update this fall.

The company is said to be preparing to release an upcoming update that will make the smart speakers even more useful, especially if they are part of a larger smart home.

With its sound, design, and price, the HomePod mini is one of the best smart speakers you can buy.

The update lets you set two or more HomePods as default speakers for your Apple TV 4K. This way, you won't have to select it every time you sit down and watch a TV show.

You can also lower the bass using the instrument. So as not to make loud noises. However, they can save you from buying separate smart speakers or expensive subwoofers.

You also don't have to be anywhere near the smart speaker to use Siri. The update enables Siri voice control through support for HomeKit accessories.

While Apple's smart home ecosystem isn't as large as Amazon or Google, this comes in handy when you want to turn the lights on quickly.

With the release of the new software, smart home support has become more comprehensive and Siri has been given the ability to control smart home devices at a specific time.

For example, you can ask them to turn off the smart bulb within 10 minutes of bedtime.

Other improvements are minor. But under the right circumstances, that can be invaluable. You can also ask Siri to open your Apple TV, play movies, and control playback.

When the HomePod mini is playing alongside the music, you will automatically see the playback controls on the iPhone lock screen. This makes it easy to listen to music quickly.

Apple improves HomePod functionality

When a HomeKit-compatible video camera and doorbell detect a bundle at your door, you'll be notified as well.

Siri adjusts the speech volume according to the room and your voice. You can choose a lower size so as not to bother others.

Apple hasn't said when the smart speaker update will be released. However, it is scheduled to launch on September 20 with iOS 15 and watchOS 8.

However, don't assume that you will get spatial or lossless audio in Apple Music. Both have been tested in the beta version of the new software.

The release notes do not indicate that version 15 can provide support. Thus, you may have to wait for another fix to experience a richer HomePod sound.
