Facebook is looking forward to the advanced glasses Project Cambria

Facebook is developing a high-quality virtual and augmented reality headset called Project Cambria. The company mocked the device in the opening keynote at the Connect conference.

The company plans to launch this headset next year. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, said he was a separate pioneer of the company's $299 Oculus Quest 2 headset.

The device has a camera that transmits high-definition color video to the headset screen. It is expected to include advanced features that the company has yet to add to the Oculus Quest lineup. The exact price or release date is not yet available.

Project Cambria includes features that cannot currently be achieved with other VR headsets. New sensors in the device enable your avatar to maintain eye contact and reflect your facial expressions.

The company claims that it enables people who interact with you virtually to better understand how you feel. Another goal of the headset is a mixed reality experience.

Using new sensors and reconfiguration algorithms to help reconstruct and improve the real world around you, Project Cambria can visualize objects in the physical world with depth and perspective, according to the company.

Project Cambria also has new optical components that make it thinner than current head-up goggles. The company said these lenses have improved optical accuracy.

Virtual Reality Glasses for Facebook Metaverse

Facebook promised to release more details about this headset next year. At the same time, you mentioned that third-party developers are experimenting with the device.

Project Cambria looks similar to the Oculus Pro headset that was leaked earlier this week. It's also conceptually similar to Apple's advanced Mixed Reality headset.

Mark Zuckerberg also introduced the Retinal Precision device in mid-October, although he described it as a prototype.

The name follows old naming conventions for Oculus code names and refers to the California location. For example, the original Oculus Quest was advertised as Santa Cruz.
