Facebook loses teens and young adults

Facebook has been facing a lot of issues lately, and as we all know, the most well known of these is the "Facebook Profile" issue. These are internal documents leaked by a former project manager within the company, who in turn revealed many facts and secrets about the company.

Perhaps one of the company's most important innovations is keeping young adults, teens, and young adults on the platform. With the share of young users down by 13% since 2019, the platform expects a loss of up to 45% over the next two years.

And not just for teens: The company predicts that the number of young users between the ages of 20 and 30 will drop by 4% over the same period.

For a company that depends almost entirely on advertising for profit, losing people of all ages is unacceptable and will have a negative impact on the company in every way.

Based on the leaked data in the file, the researchers concluded that users in this age group are slowly moving away from the platform. At the same time, the Instagram platform can still attract a larger share than the main application.

Facebook wants to attract young people

Although the Instagram platform is still able to attract young people and teenagers. However, the company's statistics show that the competition from Tik Tok and Snapchat is huge. In fact, young users spend two to three times more on Tik Tok than they do on Instagram.

The company also announced that Snapchat is their preferred method of communication. Because young people tend to connect with friends only through this platform.

The company's data analytics team found that Instagram still appeals to young adults and teens. However, this is not the case in major markets such as the United States, Australia, and Japan. Facebook is more suitable for the elderly than for the young.

Younger users also see content on Facebook as boring, misleading, and negative. In addition, young people believe that the platform is a threat to their privacy and mental health. This is based on the data received by the company's staff.

According to the results of March last year, the new users are neither young nor teenagers. The proportion of new accounts under the age of 18 decreased by 26%. It is clear that teens and young adults who have already used the platform are starting to avoid it.
