| Mercedes cars get Dolby Atmos |
As the smallest car manufacturer, Mercedes wants to upgrade its audio system with Dolby Atmos and will support the 3D audio standard for high-end models from summer 2022.
The luxury carmaker plans to integrate the Dolby Atmos experience into the optional Burmester 4D and 3D Advanced audio system.
According to the company, this gives customers a great in-car audio experience. It also allows listeners to take full advantage of the creative potential of music.
Mercedes isn't the first automaker to introduce Dolby Atmos. This title belongs to the new electric car Lucid Air, the first car to support Dolby Atmos thanks to a surreal sound system with 21 speakers.
But the German company's implementation of Dolby Atmos seems to go further, with a whopping 31 speakers scattered around the car (6 3D tweeters sound through the top, 4 speakers near the ears in the front seats and a subwoofer).
Each seat also has two hidden charms (eight in the car total), and everything is powered by two amplifiers with a total output of 1,750 watts.
The company supplies Dolby Atmos for Maybach top-tier models, followed by an S-Class equipped with the new MBUX infotainment system.
Look at prices for Maybach and S-Class cars. Owning equipment to fully enjoy the Dolby Atmos experience doesn't come cheap.

Pricing for the 2021 S 500 4Matic entry-level S-Class sedan starts at $110,850. Adding the required Burmester 4D surround sound to Dolby Atmos costs an additional $6,730.
For customers, the Maybach model is the best in its class. An upgraded audio system is included in the base price of $185,950.
