| You can use Twitter to record and share Spaces conversations |
Twitter announced last month that it would soon roll out an option for hosts to record real-time audio sessions in Spaces to make them available.
Although the company said at the time that the feature would be out in a few months, given the accelerated pace of Twitter's development, it's no surprise that the company is releasing it starting today.
The option to record Spaces via iOS is available to a limited number of Spaces hosts and all iOS and Android listeners worldwide.
The platform said that the first users to access it will be users of the beta version of Spaces. The job will then be made available on the platform to other target groups within a few weeks.
To take advantage of this feature, Spaces hosts create their own live sound room by selecting the title of their space and choosing up to three tags to describe the room's theme as usual.
You can then open the new recording area settings before clicking the Start Room button to start the real-time audio session.
When recording audio in Spaces, attendees will see a record button at the top of the room with a red dot next to it, indicating that they are recording.
When the host is ready to exit the room, they click the exit button in the upper right corner and then a popup appears asking them to confirm if they want to exit the room and exit the room.
Once the recording is complete, it can be shared on Twitter so the listener can replay it at any time or share it again themselves.
The platform does not yet offer an option to export audio. Instead, users must request that their data be uploaded to access the recording directly.
Twitter launches space recording functionality for testers on iOS
As the coronavirus pandemic escalates, the popularity of live audio is growing. But with the removal of coronavirus restrictions, its popularity has waned.
Earlier this year, popular live audio app Clubhouse saw a drop in app installs. But again with the increase in Android version.
Clubhouse has recently expanded its functionality to provide asynchronous listening options. Includes support for audio editing, playback, and export.
These tools make Clubhouse a podcast platform more than just a live audio network.
The recording is also supported by other competitors, including Facebook's live audio rooms and new startups like Fireside and Callin.
This version was released shortly after other Spaces updates. Including the introduction to the Spaces test, which has a Spaces tab for Android users. and updates that make direct messaging easier.
Twitter is now also showing popular live audio rooms in the Explore and Trending tabs on iOS to increase their visibility.
